Nursing Professor

Hesston College School of Nursing and Health Studies is seeking a student-focused, full-time nursing faculty member to join our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and mentor BSN students, with a focus on engaging, hands-on simulation experiences using high-fidelity manikins and virtual reality scenarios.
  • Design, implement and assess simulation-based learning activities that promote clinical judgment and competency development.
  • Teach at least one nonclinical-based course each semester, supporting students’ understanding of nursing practices, professional development or other BSN foundational topics.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate the latest evidence-based pedagogies in nursing simulation throughout the BSN curriculum.
  • Support students’ academic, professional and personal growth through advising and individualized feedback.
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with trends in nursing education, simulation technology and competency-based teaching strategies.
  • Participate in college shared governance activities, such as faculty committees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher.
  • Experience conducting nursing simulations with manikins and virtual reality.
  • Understanding of current pedagogical approaches in nursing simulation.
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching within a curriculum based on the Clinical Judgment Model and competency-based education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or certification in nursing simulation.
  • Previous teaching experience, especially at the BSN level.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
