National Golf Benefit and Phoenix Golf Weekend

All Hesston alumni and friends and golfing teams/individuals are invited for a weekend of warm springtime weather and activities in Arizona.
Weekend activities include:

  • On-your-own golf rounds at premier courses in the Phoenix metro area at group discounted prices during the three day weekend
  • Participate on Saturday morning in the Hesston National Golf Benefit Tournament to be held at The Legend at Arrowhead. Proceeds support the Hesston College Fund.
  • Evening group events planned with opportunities to attend MLB spring training baseball and NBA basketball games.
  • Food and fellowship with Hesston alumni and friends throughout the weekend.
  • Optional group discounted hotel accommodations, air travel reservations, and car rentals available through Reflection Travel of Wichita, Kan.

Weekend events

L.A. Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres MLB Spring Training Game at Camelback Ranch
Saturday, March 20, 5:30 p.m., with 7 p.m. game time, 10710 West Camelback Road, Glendale. Bring the whole family for baseball, dinner, and group fellowship in the Bullpen Patio.  Dinner provided by vendors at various costs, with a college update given. Reservations required. Call the alumni relations office toll free at 866-437-7866 to reserve your ticket. Reduced price adult tickets are $10 per person, with children 12 years and under at $5.
 
Common Threads: Anabaptist and African American Songs and Stories of Suffering and Hope
Trinity Mennonite Church, 4334 W. Vista, Glendale, 6 p.m., Sunday, March 21. Common Threads explores the way Anabaptist religious persecution and African-American racial suffering have intersected. Hesston faculty members Tony Brown (professional baritone, artist in residence, and sociology professor) and John Sharp (history professor, storyteller, and author of A School on the Prairie, A Centennial History of Hesston College 1909-2009) will give voice to Anabaptist martyrs and African-American slaves by singing their hymns and telling their stories. A free-will offering will be taken. A reception will follow the event.
 
Sunday morning worship services
—President Howard Keim will bring the morning message at Trinity Mennonite Church, at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services on Sunday, March 21
—Brown and Sharp will present a Common Threads worship message at First Mennonite Church of Phoenix, 1612 W. Northern Ave., 10:30 a.m., on Sunday, March 21
