Through the generosity of our supporters, Hesston College was able to offer five new institutional endowed scholarships to students with specific interests, qualifications or financial need. With 99 percent of Hesston College students receiving institutional aid of some sort, these additional scholarships help bring our students one step closer to reaching their educational goals. Take a look at these new scholarship opportunities:
- RD Snyder Life Sciences Scholarship
- Janice R. Brubacher Nursing Scholarship
- Sherwyn J. Smeltzer Business Management Scholarship
- Doris and Harold Hjelmstad Scholarship
- Ventura Family Scholarship
There’s no question these scholarships are making a lasting impression on students. Just ask Bryce Blake ’24 (above, left), a freshman in the Bible and Ministry program, a member of the men’s basketball team and a recipient of the DewEze Bible and Ministry Scholarship. As a native of Jefferson, Ga., Blake found the idea of going to college so far away from home quite daunting. In a letter expressing his gratitude for the college’s support he writes, “When I arrived I wasn’t excited, yet thankful to be blessed and fortunate enough to make it to a wonderful school like this.” Blake continues, “The next day after I moved in, I felt a homey sense of comfort, even though far from home.”
Blake concluded his letter writing, “I will try my best to learn a lot, to play well and to exhibit Christ-like behavior through my words and actions! May God bless y’all!”
Another grateful scholarship recipient is Larry Ruffin ’24 (above, right), a freshman in the Bible and Ministry program. He is also a member of the men’s basketball team and involved in instrumental music playing the grand piano. Ruffin was a recipient of the Alvin and Gertrude Blough scholarship as well. He expressed his gratitude for the support in a letter, writing, “I am beyond excited to see what plans God hasfor me at Hesston College.” Ruffin wrapped up his letter by saying, “The fact that all of my interests are here at Hesston reinforces my belief that God has put me here for a reason, and I am grateful that your scholarship will help me find out what that reason is.”
