Staff Flight Instructor

Hesston College and the School of Aviation seek to build a cadre of adjunct Certified Flight Instructors to provide substantive, engaging ground and in-aircraft flight instruction for students enrolled in both its Bachelor of Science and Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences aviation degree programs. The scope of courses to be taught is consistent with aeronautical knowledge requirements for airman certification per Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Parts 61 and 141, as well as academic course material specific to Institutions of Higher Education, as stipulated in the amended FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 61.139.

Candidates interested in this staff flight instructor position must possess a bachelor’s degree in aviation/aeronautics, or related field, with recent aviation industry experience. Qualified candidates must possess an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate – Airplane Single Engine Land, an FAA Instrument Rating – Airplane and an FAA Certificated Flight Instructor certificate with Airplane Single Engine; minimum FAA Third Class Medical Certificate. For those candidates who do not currently hold an FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate with Instrument Airplane privileges, the additional Flight Instructor rating must be acquired within 90 days of the hire date.
