Director’s Note
In the spring as a child, I would help my parents plant our garden that would soon be full of tomatoes and other vegetables. Those evenings were a special time to connect with them about my life, friendships and school. In the garden I felt free to play games, and even shed some tears. My parents would tell me that the tears helped the garden grow. As we marvel at the blossoming flowers on campus and prepare to plant our gardens this spring, I hope this story will provide a meaningful perspective on our connection with the earth, and each other. Just like a tomato plant, people can also grow and flourish when our environment is supportive and kind.
