Director’s Note

15-year-old Christopher has an exceptional brain that is well-equipped to handle the structure of mathematics, but ill-equipped to interpret the unpredictability that is everyday life. When a murdered dog turns up in the neighbor’s backyard, it’s a mystery Christopher must solve. This mystery leads him to another, more complicated mystery and, in spite of having to navigate the streets of London, as well as the complexities of neighbors and family, he feels it must be investigated.

Christopher is brilliant, but maybe not in the way we are used to understanding brilliance. We are looking into Christopher’s mind, a strongly structured and precise grid, with a black and white view that is oddly refreshing. He cannot lie. He is both creative and logical. He climbs the walls of his mind when he’s playing, and when he’s fearful. He is a kid, a kid searching for a sense of belonging and purpose…and who hasn’t longed for that at some point?
