Annual Lark Open golf benefit to be held Friday, May 1

The Hesston College Athletic Department will hold its fourth annual “Lark Open” on Friday, May 1, with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. Held at the Hesston Golf Park, the four-person scramble begins at 12:30.

The event serves as the primary fund-raiser for Larks athletics. Proceeds will go towards gym banners and athletic office renovations.

As many as 72 golfers have participated in the event in past years, and Hesston College Athletic Director Art Mullet is hopeful that number will be surpassed this year. Normally held in late May or early June, the Lark Open is being moved up in hopes of attracting more golfers.

“Because we have moved the tournament to Commencement Weekend, we are excited and anticipating a large turnout of participating golfers,” said Mullet. “We’re inviting students and their parents to participate as well.”

The entry fee includes 18 holes of golf (with cart), Hesston College golf balls and tees, lunch, as well as door prizes. Team prizes will be given to the top three finishers, and each golfer will compete for prizes for longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin. In addition, a new “Sport” model Excel Hustler mower, manufactured in Hesston, will be awarded to the first player who sinks a hole-in-one on the par 3 fourth hole on the front 9.

Anyone interested in participating in the Lark Open can visit the Hesston College Athletics site , download a brochure, and return it. For more information, contact Art Mullet at 800-995-2757, or artm@hesston.edu.
