The Hesston College Aviation Department announces that Charlie Hansen of Mulvane, Kan., is the latest student pilot to achieve his first solo flight on Sept. 17.

Charlie is a sophomore in Hesston’s aviation program. He is the son of Janet Hansen of Mulvane.

Hesston College offers flight training and air traffic control programs. Flight training holds FAA certification in single-engine land Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot and Instrument Rating courses, as well as fixed-wing private pilot through airline transport pilot certifications. The air traffic control program is one of 36 Collegiate Training Initiative programs in the country, and the only one in Kansas to gain FAA approval.
