Hesston College kicked off the 2019-20 year with a weekend of activities prior to the first day of classes on Aug. 19.
Students moved onto campus throughout the week starting on Aug. 12 to begin practices and other training before the official start of classes.
Following the last move in time of the week on Friday, Aug. 17, the campus community gathered for Opening Celebration, the launching celebration for the new year. President Joseph A. Manickam gave a reflection on the year’s theme verse, the parable of the mustard seed, from Mark 4:30-32, and students, faculty, staff and parents participated in a litany before working together to pot a plant, symbolic of the theme verse (pictured above).
The start of the new year at Hesston College is highlighted by the launch of new programs, including a bachelor’s degree in aviation-professional pilot – the second bachelor’s degree for the college – and an Intensive English Language Program.
