Starting with the 2018-19 academic year, Hesston College will be a member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC), one of the respected conferences in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
“We are excited to engage more closely with the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference,” said Dr. Rob Ramseyer, athletic director and vice president of Student Development. “It is a tremendous athletic conference that now, with Hesston as an addition, all Kansas two-year schools are a part of.”
“The KJCCC welcomes Hesston College as the 21st member of the Conference” said KJCCC Commissioner Bryce Roderick. “Hesston College has been a great partner with the member colleges of the KJCCC for many years, and we are excited to have Hesston as a full member of the Conference.”
This long and positive relationship with the KJCCC has allowed Hesston College to compete against many schools in the conference without being an official member. Now, becoming a member gives Hesston a voice in conference discussions and in regional and national legislation, gives student-athletes the ability to receive conference awards for their performance, and gives teams an ease of scheduling, among other benefits.
The KJCCC is now home to all NJCAA affiliated colleges in Kansas. The conference consists of 21 Division I and II schools, and oversees competition in 17 sports.
