Eight Hesston College singers participated in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) regional vocal competition at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colo., Nov. 5 and 6. Students competed against peers in their own class level in a four state region that includes Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming. More than 450 students competed representing all sizes of schools.
“This was probably the largest and most competitive NATS competition that I’ve been involved with during my 10 years at Hesston, and our singers sang quite well,” said Matthew Schloneger, voice instructor.
Singers included Perry Andre, of Wauseon, who advanced to the semifinal round in the Freshman & Sophomore Men’s Musical Theatre Division. Perry is a sophomore and is the son of Nate and Trish Andre.
Located 30 miles north of Wichita, Hesston College is the two-year liberal arts college of Mennonite Church USA.
