On Thursday night, Oct. 21, Hesston College and Lincoln Perk will team up to host a community fundraiser for the Hesston Public Library Fund. The event will be during the Hesston College women’s and men’s soccer games versus Allen County Community College (Iola, Kan.) beginning at 5 and 7 p.m., respectively.

“We are so grateful to have the support of Hesston College and Lincoln Perk in our fundraising effort,” Hesston Public Library director Cari Cusick said. “This is truly the community’s library, and it has been wonderful to see the community get behind this project to create an extraordinary library.”

“We’re always interested in looking for ways to connect to and support our community,” Hesston College vice president of advancement Yvonne Sieber said. “Hesston College is enriched by the local community, and the library fund is a good opportunity to give back.”

Lincoln Perk will have hot beverages available for purchase throughout the night. In addition, several donation boxes will be available around the field for fans who wish to contribute. All funds raised through concessions and donation will be given to the library. Admission to the event is free.

“Providing delicious drinks in support of such a wonderful cause is our pleasure,” Lincoln Perk owner Mary Smith said. “We’re looking forward to a beautiful evening.”

Local youth soccer teams, decked out in their own game uniforms, will be introduced to the Hesston crowd during the event. Coaches interested in having their teams participate should contact Hesston College sports information director Andrew Sharp at 620-327-8175 for details.

“This is a great way to connect the community and our college sports programs,” Hesston athletic director Art Mullet said. “It benefits a worthy cause and will be a fun atmosphere for everyone.”

Hesston College athletic programs compete in Division I and II of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Located 30 miles north of Wichita, Hesston College is the two-year liberal arts college of Mennonite Church USA.
