Les and Gwen Gustafson-Zook, Goshen, Ind., will serve as Church Leaders in Residence at Hesston College March 18-20.
Storytellers and musicians for Mennonite Central Committee, they serve as regional associates for the MCC Great Lakes office in Goshen, Indiana.
The couple will lead chapel at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18 and 11 a.m. Friday, March 20. Their topic is “Singing Our Faith-Living Our Faith: Songs and Stories of Mennonite Central Committee.”
The chapel services, held in the sanctuary of Hesston Mennonite Church, are free and open to the public.
Area pastors are welcome to join the couple for a Wednesday (March 18) luncheon (noon to 2 p.m.) and workshop on the topic, “Orthopraxy-Living Our Faith.”
The Gustafson-Zooks will also lead campus worship at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Northlawn 109 on the topic, “Gifts from the Global Church.”
Les and Gwen’s stories are harvested from a variety of MCC sources, including their own MCC experiences in Atlanta, Denver, Portland, Iran, and Kingston, Jamaica. Their music flows out of the experiences of common folk worldwide; hence, it is referred to as folk music. They’ve performed at many folk festivals over the years, including Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kan., where Les was the 2001 International Autoharp Champion.
