The Hesston College Music Department is hosting a piano recital by Beverly Lapp from Goshen (Ind.) College. The public is invited to the 7 p.m. concert Thursday, October 23, at Hesston Mennonite Church. Admission is free.
Lapp will open the program with selections from her new CD “Every Blessing.” These will be available for purchase following the recital. Following the well-known Beethoven “Appassionata” sonata, the second half of the recital will feature works by a trio of women composers-Marianna D’Auenbrugg, Clara Schumann, and Emma Lou Diemer.
Lapp is associate professor of music at Goshen College where she has had diverse experiences as an instructor and administrator. In addition to teaching piano, piano pedagogy, and humanities courses, she was previously chair of the music department and director of the piano preparatory program.
Lapp is co-coordinator of the Goshen College Piano Workshop and Academy, a four-day summer event for piano teachers and high school students.
A doctoral student at Teachers College, Columbia University, Lapp holds a bachelor’s degree from Goshen College and a master’s degree from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, Princeton, N.J.
