The Hesston College campus, which
has been devoid of students during the summer months, will begin bustling
with activity August 15-17, prior to the start of fall classes on Monday,
August 18.
Resident assistants for the dorms
arrive Friday, August 8, for a weekend orientation and retreat. Then
soccer and volleyball players, along with members of the Bel Canto Singers,
come to campus Monday, August 11. Registration for international students,
resident assistants, and returning off-campus students begins Thursday
evening, August 14.
Most new and returning students
will move into their dorm rooms, register for classes, and receive orientation
Friday and Saturday, August 15 and 16.
Opening Weekend activities include
a convocation Friday, August 15, 7:30 p.m. at Hesston Mennonite Church.
The evening will include a message by Campus Pastor Kevin Wilder, and
the installation of G. Lamar Roth, the new Vice President for Student
Life (Dean of Students). From Salina, Kan., Roth began serving June
16.
The Parent Council will host a parents'
breakfast Saturday morning. The day's festivities end with a soccer
intrasquad game at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday events will include a 9 a.m.
morning worship service at Yost Center. Interim President Peter Wiebe
will speak, followed by a litany of installation. Wiebe, from Phoenix,
Ariz., began serving July 1 as interim president. Other Sunday activities
include a picnic for faculty, staff, and students at 5:30 p.m., and
the annual Mod Olympics at 7 p.m.
