Howard Keim, president of Hesston College, and Yvonne Sieber, vice president of Development for the college, have announced the appointment of Arlan Yoder, Hesston, Kan., as planned giving advisor.
Yoder, who served on the Hesston College Board of Overseers from 1994-2006, will begin his part-time role on a contract basis in November.
Yoder recently retired after 26 years at Via Christi Health System, Inc., Wichita, Kan., where he served as senior vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer. He had been the chief financial officer there for 18 years.
“Arlan Yoder brings high credibility, earned through many years of local and board leadership across the Mennonite Church,” Keim said. “His knowledge of Hesston College as a parent, Board Chair, and alumnus will serve him well in this role. I am pleased that he has chosen to invest a significant part of his time to strengthening Hesston College in the coming years.”
Sieber said Yoder will play an important role in the Development department as he provides planned giving services for Hesston College alumni and friends.
“We are thrilled that Arlan is joining us,” Sieber said. “Arlan's financial and investment background and expertise will be a tremendous resource for alumni and friends of the college.”
Yoder says he’s excited about his new role at Hesston College. “I believe in the mission of Hesston College and really look forward to working with supporters of the college to identify opportunities to meet their stewardship and planned giving objectives.”
Prior to his work at Via Christi Health System and its predecessor, CSJ Health System of Wichita, Yoder had chief financial officer experience at Mennonite Hospital, Bloomington, Ill., and St. Anthony Hospital, Hays, Kan. He also served as bookkeeper at Hesston College 1970-73.
Yoder began serving this year on the board of Dyck Arboretum of the Plains, Hesston, Kan. He has served on the board of Mennonite Mutual Aid, Goshen, Ind., since 1994.
Yoder has previously served as congregational chair of Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston, Kan.; as a member of the Finance Committee of South Central Mennonite Conference from 1992-2001; and a board member of Schowalter Villa, Hesston, from 1980-1995.
Yoder received a master’s degree in business administration from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan., in 1976, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wichita State University in 1973, and an associate degree from Hesston College in 1971. He also completed the corporate financial management program at the Harvard Graduate School of Business, Boston, Mass., in 1991.
Yoder earned his certification as a certified public accountant in 1976 and was named a fellow by the Healthcare Financial Management Association in 1980.
Yoder and his wife Ila have three adult children.
