The Hesston College campus, which
has been quiet during the summer months, will begin bustling with
activity August 20-22, prior to the start of fall classes on Monday,
August 23.
Women's volleyball players reported
for practice, Thursday, August 12. Resident assistants for the dorms
arrived Friday, August 13, for a weekend orientation and retreat.
Then soccer players, along with members of the Bel Canto Singers,
come to campus Monday, August 16. Registration for international students,
resident assistants, and returning off-campus students begins Thursday
evening, August 19.
Most new and returning students
are scheduled to move into their dorm rooms, register for classes,
and attend orientation sessions Friday and Saturday, August 20-21.
Opening Weekend activities include
a convocation Friday, August 20, 7:30 p.m. at Hesston Mennonite Church.
Michele Hershberger, chair of the college's Bible department, will
speak. An ice cream social follows at 9 p.m. in the Bontrager Student
Center's Dining Hall.
Parents of students will be hosted
by the Parent Council at breakfast Saturday at 9 a.m. An alumni vs.
varsity volleyball match begins at 4 p.m. at Hesston High School.
The day's festivities end with a soccer intrasquad game at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday events will include a 9
a.m. morning worship service at Yost Center, where Interim President
Peter Wiebe will speak. Other Sunday activities include a picnic for
faculty, staff, and students at 5:30 p.m., and the annual Mod Olympics
at 7 p.m.
