3-D Jesus

Coming to Hesston College October 29-31, 2010

The 2010 Anabaptist Vision and Discipleship Series event

How can a more complete understanding of Jesus change your theology?
Change your church?
Change your life?

Some Christians tend to focus on the cross as the "finished work" of salvation. Others focus on the risen Christ pouring out the power of the Spirit, a Spirit curiously divorced from Jesus. Still others focus primarily on Jesus the teacher and social critic. Then his death is simply a consequence of the fact he made some people angry. But can any one of those portraits, by itself, give us a true picture of Jesus? What damage do we do to our congregations and ourselves when we follow a single-dimensional Jesus?
The goal of 3-D Jesus is to discover the whole of the story of Jesus—his life, death, resurrection and ongoing work and presence in the church and the world—as a continuous narrative . . . and to let that story change our churches . . . and us.

Who is Jesus?
A railing prophet or a First Century Mr. Rogers?
A great teacher?
A miracle worker?
What does it mean to call him Savior and Lord?
What if . . . our understanding of Jesus is too narrow?
What if . . . we want to make Jesus into our own image instead of the other way around?
